Over five million people have fled their homes to escape conflict in Ukraine.
Heavy fighting, shelling and air strikes across Ukraine is having a devastating impact on ordinary people. Homes and key civilian infrastructure have been damaged and destroyed. Basic services such as health, electricity and water have been affected as well as transport and banking services. Over a million people have fled the country in recent days, and many more have had to leave their homes to escape the fighting.
At Ukraine’s borders huge numbers of people are arriving with only what they can carry. In many places there are long waits to cross and scant facilities waiting for them on the other side, with temperatures dropping below freezing overnight.
They urgently need food, clean water, shelter, food, healthcare, as well as psychological support.
The Irish Emergency Alliance is responding to the crisis through local partners in Ukraine and the neighbouring countries of Poland, Hungary, Romania and Slovakia to help those who have fled the conflict by providing food, shelter, blankets, medical supplies and emotional support.
Donate now to help provide urgent needs for those desperately fleeing and leaving loved ones and belongings behind.
